Welding between sheet metal and structural steel

It is always a grey area as far as who is doing the welding between the sheet metal and the steel subcontractor. usually it has to be your steel subcontractor however pay attention that he has the certificate for welding the steel to sheet metal because welder certificate for that one is different. Also that weld had to be spray painted with a zinc based paint which is not a big deal but again it is a question of who is doing it.

by the way, when welding between thin and thick gage metals, the welder needs to pay extra attention to not to burn hole in the thinner metal as they will usually be working with structural steel, so this might be a problem for them.
